New Forest + Dogs

We went to the New Forest about six weeks ago and were fully aware of this problem. The New Forest is huge and this issue seems to be in the Fordingbridge area affecting about half a dozen dogs. We were at Brockenhurst some distance away. Lots of people on the site with dogs and lots of local people walking dogs in different parts of the forest. I would return to the New Forest without any hesitation.

Its been a problem for 2-3 years now. We went to Thetford Forest and Sandringham and the dogs had to be kept on leads when in the woods. It also cropped up in Sherwood and somewhere in Cornwall too. The Sandringham Royal Estates were joining in the owners surveys and had their staff taking samples from within the woods for laboratory analysis. But I dont think a cause has been found but suspicion seems to fall on fungal spores...the little blighters!!

It's getting neigh on impossible to excercise my Springers. Downs and moorland no-go due to nesting birds. Canal, lakes sea and rivers no go on account they swim out after birds or anything else for that matter, or just revel in the water. And now the forests are out of bounds due to adders and possible fungal diseases!! No fun being a dog these days. Just off for a walk in the K&A meadows with fingers crossed.
