New Member a couple of weeks ago

I have read the magazine for many years, so I thought that it was time to join the online group, so hello to every one, We have an Avondale Dart 470/2 year 2005, and we use a Ford C Max 2.0 ltr diesel (136 BHP) 2004 model which I think is a good match.
This year we have had a trip to Cheltenham and also to North Yorkshire, this was the first time I have used a super pitch which was fine, but a good few £s more than we usually pay for pitch and hook up, was it worth the extra cost, well maybe !!.
Our next trip is to Talybont mid Wales, just a hook up, toilets/showers, which we will enjoy as usual, as this is our favourite site that we have used for over 30 years, so happy caravaning to all.

Hello Colin, welcome to the Practical Caravan forum. You travel around a fair bit and we will look forward to reading about some of your trips away and I'm sure that as a seasoned tourer you will be able to offer help and advice to newer caravanners on this forum.

Thanks for the welcome Parksy, I will be glad to pass on my many years of experience, or should I say the problems that we all have and the way we overcome them, to new caravanners. I find that most caravanners will help each other when problems arise anyway either on site or via forums like this. No matter how long we have all been caravanning, if something can go wrong it will, it is all part of the enjoyment !!!!! or so I am informed. Am personally things look much better in the evening through the bottom of my whiskey glass !!!

Hi Colin, welcome to the forum, bet you have seen a few changes over the last 30 years, never have to many experienced folk on here to help us out.

Hi colin. Welcome to the forum. Look forward to your posts.
Don't feel you have to compete with Kev's animations, which are legion these days. He is only showing off.

Hi Gagakev, yes sure seen many changes, our first van was a 10ft Cavalier towed with a 1966 Vauxhall Viva, just !! only gas lights (still must have the odd spare gas mantle somewhere ! ) toilet outside in a toilet tent, no fridge, 2 burner gas ring we then progressed to 12v lights with battery located under seat, no separate battery box, connected to 12v lights with crocodile clips. The good old days !!!
Much better now with all our mod cons I think, as they say thats progress.

I say Colin Just a quick hello here and welcome to this wondrful Forum.
Its been said many tims on here never be afraid to ask that question you may think is silly cos the chances are that on here it will be the answer that may be silly.
There is a wealth of knowledge on here and that is waiting to be unleashed .
Enjoy your caravan
Sir Roger

Hi Dustydog, You could very well be right about your ridge tent V our old Cav, but in those days we didn't know any better, we are from the old school of make the best of what you have got, we enjoyed it anyway. We have never been under canvas always been tin tenters, and things could only get better we thought and guess what, they have, We are off to Barmouth, mid Wales soon and we will spend an afternoon at the country music festival in the town centre
