New Old Member

Hi Folks, I have been trying for some time to log back in after not logging in for some time. Changed my Email provider and now unable to retrieve a password reminder, so here I am again as a new member. I have found the forum an excellent place to keep up to date with all aspects of caravanning and I like the the technical, general, and overseas sites forums in particular. My wife myself and the dog have travelled to Portugal/Spain each Winter for the past 11 years, staying for three to four months at a time, and with a couple of minor exceptions have never encountered any problems. We have a Discovery towing a large twin axle.
I have seen lists of what some people take with them for an extended tour and I can safely say that I take twice as much as anybody else. I had the caravan plate uprated by Swifts from 1650kg to 1800kg but keep most heavy stuff in the car. The outfit tows very well but we always take it steady, sticking to 80/90 speed limits.
After having suffered a blow-out on our previous single axle van on a busy single carriageway, I can thoroughly recommend Red Pennant and will not travel on the Continent without it. I now have a Tyrepal tyre pressure and temperature monitoring device fitted to the T/A and car and am always reassured when I am travelling.
There is one aspect of the forum that I would like to comment on: After reading Nigel's wish for articles and photos on caravan modifications, I created a tome with an extensive write-up and loads of photos on my much modified previous single axle van. I was unable to load the photos to the forum and my Email with article and photos, direct to Nigel, was rejected as too large! I had a couple of tries at this but eventually gave up. There may be good reasons why it is difficult to load photos to this and other forums but I cant believe that I am the only one to have this problem. (Rant over, it's good to be back)
