Hello,

We have just returned to caravanning after a some time away due to ill health and have bought ourselves an oldie but goodie Swift Pirouette which we are towing with a 52 plate Vectra 2.2 auto. Loving towing such a light van with the big car!!

I do have one techie question. Despite having retro-fitted mains electrics, the caravan doesn't have a built in battery charger. Having reading many recommendations I have bought the CTEK XS3600 to be permanently connected to the battery in the caravan. I am a bit confused by the instructions. My question is, do I need to connect both the positive and negative from the charger to the battery whilst it's in the caravan? Or does one of them need connecting to the chassis whilst the other is connected to the battery or is that just for cars?

Hi Charlie & Tracy

I hope that your health has improved now and it's always heartening to see slightly older caravans that are still looked after and enjoyed being used.

I'm no expert but my guess is that you should connect your CTEK to the battery terminals rather than via a chassis earth.
