new to ALKO hitch

hi i know most of you will know the answer to this.
i am getting a new tow bar fitted to my car it is an ALKO detachable tow bar.
my question is we are looking at second hand caravans some have an ALKO hitch but some don't.
if we go for one that dosnt have an ALKO can we tow the caravan ( to pick it up ) and then replace with an ALKO
or will it not fit.

Any caravan will fit onto an Al-KO towball, but not the other way round. 😉
Remove any paint that might be on the ball itself with fine emery paper.
