New to Caravaning

Hi All, have had a caravan now for about a month (Eldis Ashington) and have spent two nights away at Henfold Lakes in Dorking Surrey. Very local as didn't want to go far. The site was great and the site manager Dave was very helpful and understanding for newbies. Great little bar & resturaunt on site too, fantastic sunday lunch.
One question I have, if there is no elec hook up, can the battery heat the water? or is it gas heated?
Any tips greatfully received.

Welcome to the forum Greg.
I am glad you enjoyed your first outing and had the benefit of a good site and manager.
Without electric hook up you will have to use gas to heat water, for the heating and the fridge.
The lights, water pump, toilet flush and fan for the blown air will work from the battery.

Hi Greg and welcome to the forum and of course to caravanning.
The water is heated by lpg when you are not on ehu and your fridge also runs on lpg but your battery would be needed to ignite the lpg on both the water heater and the fridge.

Thanks Damian, I will try it out my drive before venturing further.
If my battery is fully charged would it last for a week with normal use?

Depends what you term "normal use".
It may, if you use very little in the way of lights etc and no TV.

If you intend doing a lot of non hook up vanning it would be worth investigating a solar panel to keep the battery topped up.
However, you would be looking at something like an 80w panel
