New to towing

I am contemplating purchasing a sterling Ruby caravan and have never towed before. The dealer tells me that my car which is a Vauxhall Signam 3.2 v6 petrol is above the 85% towing limit however will be OK as this is only a suggested limit and provided it does not go above 100% it is legal. I have estimated that it will run at about 93% at MTPLM. Could some one please give me a experiences at towing at this level, and do you have any suggetions.

I would very strongly recommend the caravan club towing course. My wife and I did it after we'd been towing two years and wished we'd done it earlier.

Karl, l have Shogun which l used to tow our Ace Brightstar with which was around 62% tow match.

Last June l retired and was in the process of looking to buy a new Shogun but the Father inlaw was selling is Rover75 club V6 auto, could only get

it is legal to tow 100% of your vehicle's kerbweight provided the vehicle doesn't have a manufacturer's towing limit of less.

as far as i can tell the towing limit of the signum v6 petrol is 1700kgs.
