We spent last Hogmanay at Ayr CC site - good atmosphere, the wardens organised drinks and music in the garage area up to the bells.

Grantown on Spey site is good - there is an open air do in the village square with ceilidh music provided by a fiddlers etc. Starts about 11pm until 2am, fireworks etc at the bells, take your own drink (and warm coats) really good atmosphere.

If you do want to go anywhere for Hogmanay you need to book early - many sites are fully booked by now.

Braemar Caravan Club site is Very Good. Close to the villiage and the Ski Slopes
We are going to Bunree CC Site Nr. Fort William for New Year, It only opened last year for New Year and if you havent been its one of the most beautiful settings, on the banks of a Loch where better at New Year. Another site is Ardlui at Loch Lomond, lovely setting usually with entertainment but site a wee bit run down. Lomond Woods caravan site at Balloch also good at New Year, within walking distance to Balloch where there are lots of Hotels with functions on for New Year. Then theres Edinburgh CC Site, but I would imagin that would be booked out by now. Hope this helps. XX

Just thought of another one - CC site at Melrose, lovely site too also within walking distance to town with lots of hotels. The locals all meet in the town centre before the bells and there are fireworks and its agreat atmosphere. If I think of anymore Ill let you know, but book soon because they all get booked up really quickly.

I won't recomend the site near Edinburg we stayed at near Haddington in 2001/2002.

We had 12 inches of snow then a week of temperatures down to

-16C at night.

One water tap working at times, in heated toilet block for the whole site.

Electric hook up failure in site system meant no electricity.

My winterised van was OK running on propane gas, except for frozen waste drain pipes.

The site management gave up, their attitude being you should not be caravaning this time of the year.

Families in chalets went home (frozen pipes and no water)

I was glad I had a 4x4 to get about!

We still really enjoyed it and saw the new year in after climbing to the top of Arthur's Seat, along with about 2000 other people.

Enjoyed a great view of Edinburg at night with all the fireworks.

Don't let my tale put you off.

Museum of Flight at East Fortune is worth a visit if you are near Edinburg and interested in such things.

We were treated like royality being the only visitors because of snow and time of year
