Newbie looking for car and caravan matching advice

Hi, been looking at websites for matching advice and getting confused! Can anyone tell me if an Audi A4 Avant 2.0 tdi 177 Quattro will be safe with a caravan where the mtplm is 1500kg? Sorry if this is a simple question but I have never towed a caravan but would like one. Thanks for help!

If you already have the Audi what does the vehicle registration document give for the following?
1. Mass in service
2. Maximum towable mass - braked

The recommendation is to tow no more that 85% of answer 1, providing it is less that answer 2.
There are also other criteria to watch out for eg your license allowance and gross train weight.

Thanks for reply. I don't have the avant yet. Trying to work out what car to get. I have used a well known Dutch site which suggests an exact 85% ratio. The car kerb weight being 1680kg and MTPLM of a Swift Challenger Sport being 1435kg.

Other car suggestions are welcome!

No matter how simple a question may seem it's always best to ask it rather than take a guess and this forum is the place to ask.
If you passed your driving test on or after 1st January Click Here to read about the driving licence requrements which could determine what you can tow without a B+E qualification.
Your queries about safe towcar / caravan weight matches would be best asked on the Towcars message board where there is a possibility of more replies with the information that you need.

I have B + E entitlement. In reality, I will not tow more than the 3,500kg during my first foray into caravan ownership.
