We bought our first van in October and have been for 2 weekends so far. We have booked to go to Bordeaux in May and cambrils park in August. We have driven to Spain before last year and LOVED IT. Mt advice, GO FOR IT. It is so simple. This time we will have a caravan towing but still have no fears or reservations.

Forgot to answer the other parts of the question. I would recommend a stop over en route in the Loire Valley and also Dordogne area on your way to Spain. Best thing is to have a look at a Keycamp holiday brochure, that will give you an idea of good sites.
