Newbies thinking of buying an Awning...Your thoughts?

Hi there,

I'm fairly new to the forum and also the whole caravanning scene. We have just purchased a Bailey Pageant Provence and wondering if anyone can recommend an awning so that we can shop around for new and used.

Hope you all can help!

awnings for courses, more than a weekend? Bradcot, Isabella, Trio, Doremma, Weekend same, plus all the fly away ones, spacelight are good for easy put up and space...forget the straped to the van crap...do a google search

Stokies, has le croc says leave the strap to the van awnings alone, see either this months or last months CC mag these type can invaladate yor warranty, all the others Ie croc suggests are good awnings, also look at the Harringtons at Discover Leisure won the awning of the year last year in PC mag and CC mag.

Hi

We're in the same position as you after having a trailer tent for years we bought our 1st van last November.

We have a lightweight porch awning which is easy to put up for short trips, I think its a Quest Romany 3m.

Extra space is a priority for longer holidays and I've spent ages looking at Ebay, Preloved and the local paper for a full awning but found nothing suitable.

We ordered a Montana super lux from Dorema (a special offer on their website) last Thursday and it's just arrived this morning. It's got steel poles, (easy grip frame, tie down kit- both extra)

Basic price for size 12 is

Just a thought and it may not appeal to you. After years of buying new caravans and having to buy a new awning because the old one didn't fit, we decided this time to go for a porch awning. It's a big one but essentially it is a 'one size fits all' awning. A Bradcot Atrium 350.

When we next change the van we know that the awning will fit and, eventually this could save us a lot of money.

Just an afterthought; the awning will fit the new van but my nearest and dearest will almost certainly want to change the colour, so I'll end up buying a new one anyway! Oh hum...

As previously mentioned, Dorema have a factory special offer on at the moment, details on their website. I have just bought a size 12 awning, choice of colours, in ten cate canvas for under
