Our Freelander is insured with the above, we recently requested a costing for cover whilst abroad for the 4x4 and the caravan.

The 4X4 is apparently already covered with the green card for abroad the same level of cover at home and abroad. (We have breakdown assistance for the U.K.)

We had to request Continental breakdown cover and cover for the caravan for our 17 day stay away this came to £40.00, which think is very good.

My Questions are

A)Does anyone else use this company for abroad?

B)Have you had to use them abroad and would you use them again?

Hi Allyson.

Can speak with some experience on this subject as we have just returned from France having had an accident.

Our Car has a three year warranty which covers it in europe for breakdown, towing to garage, hotel bills, car hire if needed etc. This worked really well and the service was very good RAC europe actually looked after us although the cover was Kia Assist.

Prudential who insure the car did not require any additional payment for European cover. They are in the process of bringing the car back to the uk because it could not be repaired. Again no problem.

NFU insure the caravan on the same policy as our house contents. We get 60 days cover a year in Europe for no extra payment and the cover is the same as in the uk. Although they were a bit uncertain at first they are responsible for the bringing back of a damaged van either to your house or a repair outlet. They then send loss adjusters out to inspect van.

In all although we had a nightmare experience, the first in nearly 30 years all the companies have delivered without in our case any additional payments.

As per normal when you get the claim form not everything is covered, phone calls, food and bits like that but overall we have been very satisfied.

If I can be of any more help please ask.

Andrew

Car on its way back. French garage think it is a write off but we will see.

Caravan will need a complete new front but will be ok, it will take some time to resolve.

Problem was with a car wheel not caravan.
