hello all
i have just taken delivery of a 2014 Bailey Unicorn Valencia, i am very pleased with it but find the water pump somewhat noisy, also there is some sort of pump over run when the tap is turned off. if this is normal then fine.I will get used to it. i am just concerned that perhaps it is something the dealer should take a look at, but that would require a round trip of 100 miles.I am now based on a seasonal tourist spot.
are there any valencia owners out there who get the same noise.
thank you in anticipation
regards
Brian

Hello Brian,

I assume Bailey continue to use an internal pump, which because its higher than the water in the container it has to suck the water up. The normal type of pump to do this is a positive displacement or diaphragm pump. These are inherently noisier than the submersible pumps, and they are inside the caravan rather than outside so they are more noticeable. Sometimes remounting the pump on a compliant pad can help reduce the noise.

I have to assume that your previous caravan used taps with switches to control the pump. As soon as you turned off the tap the power to the pump was cut and the pump stopped. Your new caravan will have a pressure switched controlled pump. This has a single switch fitted to a pressure sensor, and it only turns off the pump when the pressure in the pipework has risen enough. So when you turn the tap off, the pump continues to run to repressurise the pipework and water heater. This can take a few seconds.

Hello prof
your explanation sounds spot on. thank you so much.and yes my previous caravan was a swift challenger with those little electric switches you describe.
