Has anyone discovered mats that can be used in the Caravan that do not slide all over the place and end up against the fridge or toilet door. We never used to have this problem perhaps it is the modern carpets that are fitted in Caravans nowadays. We have tried JML mats that claim to be non slip, they are useless.JTS.

I think you are possibly referring to the same thing I bought.

If so, we got ours from Dunelm Mill and it is white. You can cut it to size and it comes in various sizes to start with, costing about

We just make sure the van fitted carpet is thourghly vacuumed then use double sided tape between the two, obviously you need to take a roll of the tape with you. We also tried the thin white membrane, it was so so, but now we just use tape at one end!

When we used to use mats I put a screw with cup washer at each corner

We don't like the current fashion for loose 3 piece carpets so I got a roll end of felt back and fitted it instead

I have come to the conclusion that the two mats my other half insists on taking away in the caravan are actually alien lifeforms (possibly even closly related to my mother in law), they are incredibly fast moving, yet manage to blend into earth society very well.

The way to spot if you have simalar lifeforms is simple...........

They appear to me after a lengthy study not to like draughts, but infact have a liking for either a cool or damp enviroment where they like the occasional bit if rough treatment.

So the test......................

1. Place your suspected alien life form just inside your caravan door, preferably on the floor.

2. move away slowly, but remember not to watch it.

3. read the paper, watch tv or something. still without looking at it.

4. get up and either go to get a drink out the fridge, or use the caravan bathroom, if you find the bathroom or fridge door wont open easily, then look at the floor.

5. has your suspected life form moved over to be bashed by either the door of the bathroom or fridge, remember their liking for cool or damp enviroments.

6. If the suspected alien life form has not moved you actually have a "MAT" these are very rare, so dont shout about it. I bet many people will be supprised by the vast number of alien life forms that actually resided unnoticed in their caravans.

Happy alien hunting.

Regards

Mark

Hi JTS

Over the years we have tried all sorts of ways to stop the mats slipping, like the ones mentioned, our latest mats are more like a long runner, they came from B&Q and cost about

We used to have the same problem and then bought some material from a carpet shop that you place between the loose carpet and the fixed carper in the caravan and it stops the carpet moving. We have also used it to stop a carpet moving on lino and it works well. Don't know the name but the stuff was not too expensive. I looks like carpeting but if you stood on it, it will stick to the bottom of your shoe almost as if it was velcro.
JTS hi ,I have just bought some material for my old Dad who has the same problem in his bungalow .

I bought some material frm Aldi .... Pucker stuff to stop carpet moving and works a treat.

Cost less than a packet of fags

I managed to get hold of a couple of very large bathroom mats. They sit end on end to each other and, being rubber back, sit quite nicely without a lot of movement. They have a pile of approx 3/4" and are really snug. They come in various colours. When dirty they can be put into the washing machine!

Hi All, thanks for your help. BINGO - we paid B&Q a visit this afternoon and there at clearance price were runners, 70cm long, just what we wanted so we snapped up two.
