who is going to go to normandy if you have to drive 6 hrs from the port if you can drive south warmer and easy its 600 pounds to caen or 150 to calias
 
Those people who love Normandy will go there, either from Caen or from Calais, probably depending on where in this country they live and how much they're prepared to pay for a ferry crossing.

Not everyone wants hot sun - some people like the climate in Northern France, some people like the scenery - fortunately, since if everyone went south it would be a lot more crowded.
 
understand about the sun but i was thinking about late august also cherbourg same weather as here and if you want northern france you dont have to go far from calais also impact on camp sites
