Hi All

We are thinking of taking our van to Northumberland next year in Sept. Would welcome any suggestions as to sites, we like peace and quiet, but also like a few home comforts as we both are now over 70, thanks in advance Clive

We used the C&CC site at Haltwhistle in September. It's nice and quiet, relatively small at about 50 pitches.

The facilites, although spotless, are a little tired and need updating.

Lots of wildlife in the area, spotted the red squirrel on site.

Hi Clive, we went to Northumberland for the first time a couple of weeks ago. We normally only use CC sites but Seaview was full(and it`s not in a nice place anyway) so we stayed at East Ord Country Park in Berwick, and was quite impressed. Good clean facilities,we got a `superpitch` without asking, small bar & restaurant on site, small shop just outside the gates and a cracking local country pub doing good food and real ale less than five minutes walk away. It`s also easy to get to, so you can quickly get to Berwick, Bamburgh,Lindisfarne etc. They also have a website.

Wherever you end up, enjoy it. We did and willbe going back to see some more.

Northumberland is a top place!

CC River breamish site is very well placed inland, 20 mins from Alnwick. Its a good base for the Cheviott hills, NT cragside, the coast, Bamborough, Craster...the list goes on

Northumberland!!!

Where do you start/stop the praises of this wonderful part of the country? We have spent many happy hours travelling around.

However, just a word of warning! Don't forget to pack your waterproofs - the weather can get might inclemant. Having said that we still return, annually.

Have a look on South Meadows Caravan site - you can find it through Google. Although it is privately run we have alway enjoyed our stay there. 15 miles north of Alnwick/15 miles south of Berwick. About 1 mile inland from the A1 (although you don't hear the traffic. Adjacent to a village for supplies and good pubs. There is even a golf course near to the entrance. Ideal for staggering back after a couple of bevvies. Yes, they do let 'strangers' in at no extra cost, and they did do reasonable food.

Hope this is helpful. I am sure you will enjoy your stay!
