I have put my maths hat on and am trying to work out the ideal noseweight for my Sorento/Conqueror combination. (2.5 auto and 630 twin axle)

Does anyone have advice on the noseweights they have successfully gone by for their set-up.

With the car being able to deal with 140kg at 7% the potential noseweight could be 127kg - higher than the noseweight gauges suggest of around 75kg (and gauges actually go up to 90kg).

We collect our caravan in 3 weeks and would love to hear from you with your advice.

Cheers!

Forget 7%, that comes from the days when caravans weighed aboout 800kg gross!

The noseweight should be as heavy as possible for stable towing but must not exceed any of the limits of car, towbar, towball, caravan hitch, caravan A-frame.

The hitch and/or A-frame probably have a limit of 100kg - if the others are higher, then you will be limited to 100kg.

As has been said earlier you are liminted to 100kg with the Alko hitch. We have a Sorento and a Spectrum 535 which has the same MTPLM. Try to keep the noseweight between 90/95kg and outfit has been perfectly sable at these weights.

The Sorento max nose weight is 140kgs. We keep the nose weight of our Wyoming at 90/95 kgs and never have any problems.

Bj, you should not have any problems.

My 57 plate Sorento XE according to the manual has a noseweight of 140kg and the plate on my "Kia Witter" towbar gives a 140kg limit.Good luck JTS.

Mines an 05 so that may explain the varience. Weird because mine has the self levelling rear suspension whilst if yours is the facelift job it doesn't??

I tow a 2007 Conqueror 655 1755 kg. max with a Galaxy 2.8V6 and find around 100kg noseweight gives a superb tow. There are only 2 of us in the car and all heavy items in the car are stored amidships and not in the boot area. The car was designed to carry seven people and their luggage so I am well in its capabillites, in fact the back end stays level under all conditions and tows superbly (Ford recommends 80kg) .
