I am going to change my little car. I want a small hatchback with a bit of power. I tried the Fiesta ST2. Very nice but quite a hard ride.
Any suggestions for a small car with some power and reasonable acceleration. Couple of years old.
Thanks

Thank you Sprocket, I will look into the ones on the list that I hadn't considered.
Now then tech and petrol heads; tell me this; When considering Performance data should I be paying more attention to the ps figure; the engine capacity; the torque; or the acceleration figure.

I am not technically educated so this is where you speak slowly AND SHOUT.
Keep it simple boys.

We have an 07 Nissan Note 1.5 diesel which gives nearly 70mpg on a run and just over 60mpg all overall, and has lots of torque. Its surprsingly nippy and holds the road like a skateboard. The rear seats give more legroom than in our XC70 when I am driving (6ft4in) and they can be slid forwards by 6 inches to increase rear load space. The other big plus is that its never had a problem in 7 years. The new one is even better.

We have a Suzuki Swift Sport,2012 plate which is the one with 6 speed gearbox,2 years old in January, so far only costs have been insurance, tax, fuel and 2 services. Not the most comfortable on longer journeys, over 100 miles say,but for everyday use it has proved excellent.

Is there such a thing as a "bad car"out there now?Even a base model Fiat Panda seem pretty good these days.

Hi Deli Dave
I know what your neighbour means,I am only allowed to drive it, when it needs fuel or washing,as it is not really my car and I "always leave the seat and mirrors in the wrong position" it looks like the lovechild of a mini and golf and is economic if you want it to be, but if you drive it to have fun you need to use the gearbox and economy suffers, but we could not find any other car that got close to it as a package for the money.

Thank you for your advice. Tried a few different cars. Settled on a Fiesta titanium ecoboost. Only a 1.0l engine but produces 125ps. Really nippy when you just squeeze the accelerator. (lots of smiley icon thingys) More comfy than the ST. Also £0 car tax pa and really "cheap" insurance wise. (I know no insurance is cheap but everything is relative). I tried a 1.4 POLO thinking it would be great; very disappointing, nips off as you start from standing then the power just drops off. Only doing 85ps in spite of engine capacity.
