Three weeks ago today our youngest daughter underwent surgery for a condition that may have been cancerous. The surgery was a success and the surgeon, afterwards, said she doubted that there was any cancer but tests would need to confirm this.
A couple of days later the hospital confirmed no cancerous material but would like to get a second opinion from Adenbrookes where there was more expertise. We were told not to expect a reply until the New Year.
Adenbrookes must have fast tracked it because late on Christmas Eve they phoned to confirm no cancerous material and no need for any further intervention. Just the regular post surgery check up.
A dark cloud was lifted and this was the best Christmas present we've ever received.
The NHS may have its problems but it sure can deliver good results when tested.
