Been checking and double checking like i do with all the jobsprojects i do and found this....

"When operating on gas under certain wind conditions (10 metres per second horizontal) the Mk 2 could produce excessive carbon monoxide and even catch fire. These dangers can be eliminated by fitting the cowl from the near carbon copy 'Henry' water heater that is being imported from China to replace the Mk2."

Was only by luck i found this and i have already bought the new cowl thank god as i have 2 kids under 4. Yes the carbon monoxide detector would have caught this but still any monoxide is not good

Excessive Carbon Monoxide?

No commercially LPG burning appliance can actually achieve perfect combustion, so they will all produce some Carbon Monoxide (CO). For correctly adjusted appliances the amount of CO will be a very very small percentage of the flue gasses, and thus will not be a problem.

In touring caravans all space and water heating appliance must be 'room sealed' This means that all the gas, flame and products of combustion are vented to the outside and prevented from entering the living space, so even if the appliance was badly adjusted and producing more CO than normal, the gasses will be exhausted outside.

Whilst the possible ingress of CO from space and water heaters into the living space is very very low, it is certainly sensible to have CO detectors, as Cookers and Ovens are excluded from the room sealed requirements, so all their exhaust products are discharged directly into the living space.
