Nothing to catch screw behind sidelight.

Hi I changed a bulb in the front sidelight of my caravan (Bailey Pageant series 5). When I tried to screw the unit back on I found there in nothing to catch the screw in behind it. As you can't get your hand in behind the panel to attach a nut the only thing I can think of is to sillicone it on. Is there any other way.

Thanks.

Similar post recently about the same problem on rear light clusters. Someone suggested a rolled up piece of old rubber inner tube to plug the hole, and then screw into the inner tube.

Might be worth a try.

We got some hollow fixing screws from our caravan dealer - a bit like those plasterboard screws and plugs, but on a much smaller scale. As you screw them in the rubber pleats up and holds against the internal surface of the caravan exterior panel. I'm sure your dealer with have something similar.

Hi Tom if you go to one your auto accessory shops you can by those spring type nuts that slide over where the hole is and a nice self tapping screw ... jobs a good un
