We are regular visitors to oakdene going back over six years.
The facilities are excellent, the staff friendly. As part of an overheads reduction drive, though, they have reduced the temperature of the pool by a degree or two. Whilst this doesn'd sound much and the savings are in the thousands, it is noticable when in the water.
The rumours about converting to statics are true.
The number of statics has increased substantially and will continue to do so.
One field should stay available long term because it is an area of special scientific interest meaning it can only be used for so many weeks in the year (namely the summer holidays).
Hopefully the hard standing areas ahould remain available for a couple more seasons.
Compared to Sandy Balls it is a similar site but with more modern facilities.
It can be expensive, however (As are all Shorefield sites) and the pitches are not overly generous.
My advice is to give it a go, particularly out of season when the prices are reasonable.
