Thinking of going away to the Lake District in Half Term week (end of Oct) and I am a little unsure of whether to go as this would be the first time that we have been away after Sept. What do you all think - good idea or avoid it?!

Good idea. We too have got more trips booked this month, 5 days Minehead and 5 days at Blenheim Palace. Her who must be obeyed wants to book some in November to if the weather holds out. We've been away 17 times so far this year and thats including 3 1/2 weeks in Scotland/ Lake District.

Hello Monkey

We are just completing our second season caravanning.

Without doubt our most enjoyable trip last year was at the Caravan Club's White House Beach site at Kessingland. It was a long weekend 29th, 30th and 31st October and it was the only weekend it didn't rain on us! Just had another glorious 4 nights at that site at end of September and fully intend getting out again before locking up for the winter. Who knows, if the weather forecast if favourable we might even give it a go in November?

Regards

JohnJ

Hi Monkey

This is our first year caravanning, we had our first outing in it at New Year, it was great! warm and cosy. We have been out severval times during the year and have another booked for the oct half term, although that will be it for this year, due to work commitments, we can't wait to book our next break hopefully in february, so go for it and enjoy!

Go for it, there is nothing like that feeling when you arm and hand are freeeeezing cold because they were outside of the quilt, but the rest of you is lovely and warm...we just experienced that this weeken, but had a nice fire burning in the evening and was one of the best weekends we have had (even though the water was a little cold). This is our first season and we also are booked for the week during half term, don't mind the cold, just hope it does not rain ;-(

Monkey,

Caravanning in Autumn is wonderful - go for it, mate! If you have kids, consider half term in Longleat in future years. The CC site's near the attractions, with lots to do, even if it's raining.

I suppose the only downer to caravanning at this time of year is the leaves that keep appearing all over the floor. Anyone have any tips for keeping them out?
