omnivent extractor fan and roof light.

I have recently purchased a new caravan and when I lower the adjustable vent, it drops down with a thud onto the caravan roof.

My caravan dealer says this is due to a new type of spindle, but I am not convinced this is true.

Has anyone else encountered this problem and if so how was it cured.

hi yes its normal mine is same ! dealer told me to lube it up on the spindle with a light oil like wd40 have done it this is now smoother but still a thud when it get to the last bit befor it shuts.

Yes peter it is normal.

Because of the engineering of the mechanisum, the last turn of the knob does mean that the vent lid drops more suddenly.

My van is a 2005 model and it still has the origial mechanisum and vent cover so the action isn't detremental to the longevity of the part.
