Omnivent motor problem.

Our's has a problem starting up. Runs through all speeds and directions but it now needs a push off through the inner vent slots to get it start spinning. Thought I'd check on here, seems motor needs replacing which isn't a problem, but could it be the resistors that are at fault rather than the motor?

I suspect if the motor wont start by its self, its most likely the motor that's the problem not the speed reducing resistors. Most likely the brushes inside the motor, or the motor bearings.

I am not familiar with the unit so I don't know if the brushes are replaceable

Could it be simply the motor shaft has corrosion or grunge up with cooking fat. Try spraying some WD40 on the shaft that might help.

Agree with GD485 - cooking deposits can set quite stiff and be difficult to remove. WD 40 does leave its own deposit as it dries, so penetrating fluid might be better initially. You might hear the motor speed increase as deposits are loosened.
