Hi We are getting problems getting it up(so to speak but thats another story) seriosly though every time we try to raise the lid it point blankly refuses to budge and then another time it will move nice and easy..i'm reluctant to spray anything around as it will attract all the dust etc. any ideas what the problem might be

Had same problem with my Bailey Indiana (2006) Mentioned to dealer when in service. Fixed! Seems it is common problem due to excessive mastic, when unit installed on roof by manufacturer.

Keith, the usual cause is the rim of the dome sticking to the mastic which the omnivent is sealed to the roof with, as when fitting the mastic is forced out around the frame.
Whilst I do not normally recommend interfering with such masic , it is possible to very carefully trim the mastic where the roof dome comes down so that it does not stick.
Using a sharp knife to cut through the mastic and very carefully trimming it, then use a plastic scraper to lift the cut part only off the roof.
I must stress that very careful cutting is needed to only cut the mastic and not damage the main roof panel.

I had this problem on my 2007 Pageant Champagne. Reported it to the dealer last year, who fitted a new one under warranty. No problems since

I have the same problem intermittently on my 2007 Bailey Senator Vermont. The dealer applied some sort of lubricant when the problem first materialised in 2007 but the vent still sticks occasionally. When it does I push a teaspoon end through the grill to the vent underside and ease it up as I operate the knob. Apart from that I do not know what cauaes the resistance to normal operation.

I think that its more a tight fit than a mastic problem and as it winds up on one side there is a wedging action

This has been a known problem for some time with some omnivents.
My dealer certainly knew what the problem was as soon as i mentioned it. It is one corner catching against the caseing in the closed position. I think my dealer filed the edge of the opening part until it did not catch.Never had any problems for 2 years since.

Seems to be quite a common problem. Having a 'van which will stand people walking about on the roof, i got up there and had a look. Seemed to be just a bit of a mismatch, perhaps caused but whoever fitted the omnivent tightening down one side all the way first, tarther than going round all the fixings like tightening a wheel. I just used a bit of Vaseline on the tight area and clean off and replace once a year and all is now fine.
Hi Keith I had the same problem , just sprayed all the external nylon movable parts with a silicone spray, it now works okay.
