onboard water tanks Replay to topic

Does anyone else have our problem? We have a Bailey Series 5 Senator Oklahoma, with an onboard water tank. The water from the taps tastes awful - we have to use a separate bottle for drinking water.

What can we do to improve the taste of the water from the onboard tank?

30 Aug 2008 07:11 AM We have had onboard tanks for the last 17 years ,usually fitted DIY but for 2 years factory fit in a Senator

We have on very rare occasions had a slight taste with the water depending on the site supply

We have always drunk the water from the tank but its usually boiled for tea or coffee

Our friends use a filter jug and bottled water but that is their choice

Some people have posted that they have had the piping replaced due to badly tasting water

Do you get the same problem with water direct from the outside container ?

Damian - There has been a problem with Bailey caravans in general regarding the taste from the drinking water supply whether you have inboard storage or an Aquaroll. The problem was the pipes used in the plumbing had been affected by some outside source which ended up with a chemical breakdown of the plastic. Our neighbour and us both bought new Baileys in 2007 and we have both had the pipes changes for this reason. The service centre who undertook the works said it was a common fault with Bailey and he had worked on quite a few other Bailey vans with the same problem. Go back to the dealer and insist that the pipes are changed. Change all the pipes including the wash hand basin as this water could be equally contaminated and it would be used for cleaning teeth, etc.

Thanks Damian.

Never heard of this before - will get on to our local dealer and get his take on this. Thanks again for the heads-up.
