On this Day, 18 years ago this morning I was first on the heart surgeons list to undergo heart bypass surgery.
A triple bypass graft procedure was duly carried out by the fantastic team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, it was a Monday morning and I was back home the following Saturday :cheer:
I just thought I'd share that with my caravanning friends and acquaintances. :)

Wow, not only must you have been very young but if you've had no further work done on it they certainly did a good job. I for one am very glad they did! :)

Thanks for the kind replies :)
I was a slip of a lad at 47 years old when I had the bypass, I'd had two heart attacks when I was 46.
The good news was that I recovered fairly quickly, the not so good news was that I had a stroke when I was 50, but again I was young enough to adapt .
I haven't had major surgery since, but I'm careful about what I eat and I rarely touch alcohol these days, except when I meet with the Woosies

A mid life de-coke is good for your power plant :p

You're still a young man. When you were born you weren't expected to live as long as you have, and you get on with it. So all power to you.

My twin brother has recently become a 24 year cancer survivor. We have both passed our fathers life by 2 years. We were both christened at birth unexpected to survive the first night being so premature. Mum has survived a heart attack at 60 and breast cancer and is still going strong at 84

Onwards and upwards :p :p

Good on yer, Parksy!
I had a heart attack at 39, which was rather frightening, as all the males in my father's family died from heart disease, all of them before their
67th birthday! My brother was the first to break the 67 barrier, then me, and so far all my generation are over the line!
Now, at 74, I never even think of the trauma and fear at the time, except when something like this post crops up, and, like many others, I curse the NHS, when I needed them, they came up trumps, for which I will be forever grateful.

Well done Steve. I'm sure caravanning is one of your many activities which helps to keep you active. I also recall your part of a choir, don't underestimate the benefits of the breath control and the mental agility required for that.

Here's to many more years
