only the lonely

Hey the Fouldsy's will still be around. Two full time workers, one self-employed with busiest time straight through the middle of summer dictates no long breaks for us until autumn, we have optimistically booked a couple of long weekends at a site nearby (commutable distance if necessary), but we'll still be checking out the forum on a regular basis, so don't feel abandoned Smiley.

I will also be around, assuming the infighting ceases. As both my wife and I are now retired we are taking several short breakes as we have planted vegetables this year and want to come back regularly to water and tend to them. Greenfingers rule OK.

I know what you mean, we have an allotment which always seems to spring into action just as we are due to depart. Dared to go away for a week at the beginning of this month and had to beg the watering skills of other allotmenteers to see us through...it's worth it all in the end though...even if we do tend to end up with more courgettes than Tesco's!

Not only more food than Tesco but also tastier and more wholesome.

I'm still here. I was going to post a comment on another thread in this section where the mod has posted end of subject ( it was going to be "is that a promise" ) but I thought best not I might get in trouble. So I won't post my comment.

But I'm having a geat time in the chat thread all that penquin bashing absolutely brill.

"AAArr" as uz `Ampshireites say. You cant beat home grown veg.

Our best move would be to put an `ardstanding on the wifes allotement to save `er coming home at night.

Might even intice me up there sometimes but somuns got to stay at `ome to guard the tomatoes and cucumbers and melons.

Short trips away for uz also this year so i`ll be lookin in most days to see whose where etc.

An alternative idea for the retired allotment members of the caravanning fraternity would be to have allotments adjacent to seasonal pitches. In this way we could go away and also have the joy of tending to an allotment and reaping the harvest in the autumn.

Colin

I hope you are one of those allotment people who DO NOT light bonfires. Very environmentally unfriendly, burning things on allotments. We have the Grantham canal to the side of our house and allotments adjacent. I'm on first name terms with the Enviromental Health Officers as people insist on bringing their household waste to their allotments and burning it.

Lisa (Mind you, I do use their small carpark for training my dog, so it's not all bad).
