over heating battery

again have just found out that the battery is over heating the cause leaving it connected to the van while in storage over winter ,what i want to know is because we are away but cant get a battery ,can i put a dead battery in our friends have with them to stop any damage to the charger instead of running it with out a battery connected

Hi Michael, just pull the fuse to the charger.

Putting a faulty battery on the charger may damage the charger.
