okay or should i be useing some other method.

Hi Bryan,

I have three "Moisture Mates" in different parts of the van and I empty the liqid and re-charge with crystals every couple of months. If you go this route, buy a large bag of crystals from your caravan accessry shop rather than the small refill packs - the big bags are much more economical.

I also have a mini electric dehumidifier but rarely use it as it needs the electrics to be hooked up which is a bit of a nuisance.

P.S. Moisture Mates much more efficient than salt. My neighbour puts an egg-cup full of salt in his van when he lays it up hen wonders where the mould comes from.

hi you can use three large dishes of salt, each end and in the centre.its cheap and works.DO NOT place any dishes on a polished surface it will damage it with the fumes.

Having learned the hard way, when we had a static caravan, I now put salt in as many containers as I can find - all the cups and bowls. You can never put too much down.

That's good advice about not putting the salt cotainers on polished surfaces - I would add, don't put on your glass cooker and sink covers either. The metal bits that hold them tend to rust up. Salt is bad news for corrosion.

Put all seats upright in the middle of the van, where air can circulate, too.

Assuming your caravan is in good condition, ie doesn't leak, the trying to capture moisture is pointless - however much you extract the outside ambient air will just bring in more through the vents.

Just open the windows for a few hours on a fine day in spring before you use the caravan again.

If your caravan does leak, get the problem fixed rather than the symptoms.
