Hi I am looking at going to see a band play in whitby, at the resolution inn, and was wondering if there was anywhere I xan park my campervan overnight nearby. Can anyone help?
I believe that whole area is included in the NYCC order which says that motorhomes are not permitted to park between the hours of 11pm and 7am each day. See Here.maggyd. said:It depends on how big your van is! you might get away with parking in the parking bays up on the West cliffe area or even the car parks just for one night.
It all depends on the wording in the legal order, which may or may not refer to definitions in national legislation. Local authorities are now tending to use specific wording designed to cover all the vehicles they are concerned about.iveco4x4 said:Interesting, can that legally be enforced as I beleive there is no legal classification of what is a motorhome. If you read your V5 then it will say Motor Caravan
Mine doesn't even say that as the camper body can be removed so its just cargo, so legally it cannot be a motor caravan

They sometimes try wording like "no sleeping in vehicles" as well. However, enforcing THAT must be even harder - even if the curtains are shut and you're in your PJs, you can still say "But I wasn't asleep," and no-one can prove otherwise! Plus, they're on dodgy road-safety ground, banning people from sleeping in a vehicle, when we see so many "Tiredness Kills" signs everywhere.gjh said:It all depends on the wording in the legal order, which may or may not refer to definitions in national legislation.
