Hi, newish to the motorhome life. Coming back from Le Havre into Portsmouth about 2130 (midweek).
Does anyone know of overnight parking within a hour of the port?. Any recommendations very welcome
Thanks
Andy

Presumably you mean camping overnight rather than simply parking for a short while.
At that time of night you will probably be too late to get into a caravan site unless you can find a late night arrivals area.
The CAMC has a site at Rookesbury Park near Fareham which might have a late night arrivals area you can use if you book a night there.
Otherwise there are the motorway services on the M27 but they are pretty expensive after the free 2 hours.

EDIT - Just remembered West Beach at Hayling Island. See under Hampshire at http://www.ukmotorhomes.net/uk-stopovers/uk-stopover-listings

Hi Andy
There's a car park we've used before a morning crossing, on Whale Island Way, just round the corner from the terminal. It's only small, but we've always found room there. Free of charge, and the only restriction is a 24 hour limit.
We found it on searchforsites.co.uk but a SatNav should take you to the road.

If you go to use the site which Tony mentioned, take care to check for any newer restrictions.
Search for sites is known for continuing to list places where one can supposedly stay even when they no longer are (or never have been).

There is free parking in Port Solent marina and also Portsmouth Truck Stop http://www.portsmouthtruckstop.co.uk/ Both are open at that time and only 10 minutes or so from the port.

I have used the free car park next to Fort Widley on Portsdown Hill many times. Sometimes activity by young people but have had no problems. OS map ref is 505104. Lovely views. 10 mins from Port. Other parks further west on Portsdown have height barriers.

There's also one at Whale Island Way, just round the corner from the ferryport exit.
Your satnav will take you there, or it's on searchforsites
