Good afternoon folks
Just joined after a recommendation from the Caravan Club. Hope someone can help me with my dilemma. I will be taking my van as far south as Tarragona this year and I have sorted out and booked all sites and stops myself except one. Does anyone have any recommendations for an overnight stop between Perpignan in France and La Jonquera in Spain, nothing fancy, a municipal will do for 1 night. I have honestly already contacted about 10 sites and none have so far had the decency to even contact me back. Any information will be gratefully received. Also does anyone recommend an overnight stop at aire du Village Catalan near the border?
Thanks in advance

Hi Dave - Welcome to the Practical Caravan forum.
I don't think I'd choose to stay at the Aire de Catalan Village - we've stopped there for meals several times, but I wouldn't want to overnight there (though we do stay at the Aire de Baie de Somme in northern France).
I can't help with personal recommendations for sites which will definitely take a booking for one night, but have you seen the website: Campsites near the main routes - which is very useful for planning journeys. It lists ALL campsites within 15 km of the major routes through Europe. If you want a municipal site then it's probably not necessary to book, just turn up at a reasonable hour and you should find a pitch. If you want a larger site then, if you're travelling in peak period, they may be unwilling to take just an overnight booking, but you still may find a pitch if you just turn up. There are several sites listed in the area you're looking for, but I don't know which ones you've tried already. We stayed at La Roseraie near Argeles, which has some nice pitches and red squirrels, and we've also stayed at Le Haras at Palau del Vidre which is a lovely site - but I don't know whether either of these would take a booking for just one night. However, if you're going in low season, then I don't think you'll have any problems even if you don't book.
