Could there be a register of small or municipal sites in France listed somewhere within this forum which we readers could contribute to? There are always questions posted about overnight stops and if we had a location in mind we could then just check out that area. I have stayed in lots of small site whilst driving through France, some brilliant, some terrible, what are the thoughts of other readers?

Do you think it's a good idea and is it possible?

I'm sorry, but you are unlikely to produce a list as comprehensive as The Caravan Club's Foreign Touring Handbook & Directory.

After thr horrors of the Paris outer ring, if you are travelling down the A10 and need an overnight:

Take the first exit off the A10 the village of Dourdan has a small site which is open until 10.00pm, basic but adequate for an overnight. Good shopping within walking distance.

I am proposing to stay at a site near Arles the last week in May as a centre to explore the Camargue and areas to the north. All the sites in the Caravan Club Touring Handbook for that area mentions mosquitoes. Has anybody any experience there in the time I am going, are they bad? Can any site be recommended

Yes, they are bad - after all the Carmargue is a vast area of delta/marshland with lots of pools where they breed. You need a good mosquito repellant on yourself, if you can plug one in your van do so, keep the insect screens down, even across the door, buy in plenty of citronella candles, and use Avon Woodland Fresh lotion on top of your mosquito repellant to keep them at bay. Some sites have anti-mosquito 'patrols' using sprays, etc., but the beasties find their way in somehow!!
