Owning a caravan and maintenance

Most cars just come with antifreeze tank. But then you have these caravans that come with "antifreeze tank on driver side, and radiator screw on passenger side under hood.

I just bought this used 2001 Dodge Caravan Sport ,I was told that you're supposed to always make sure that there's antifreeze in the antifreeze tank, and the radiator screw needs to be unscrewed and make sure that there's antifreeze topped off in the radiator tank.

I think that's a little extra than owning a regular car. or truck that just has a antifreeze tank. Do you think owning a caravan is simple, or does it required extra maintenance?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I see you are from California. This forum is based in the UK so we are not very familiar with the campers and caravans on your side of the pond, but some general principles will be the same.

Owning or using any type of technology usually means it will require some care, consideration and maintenance to keep it operating efficiently and safely. so the answer to your question above is definitely "yes" it will require maintenance.

You should always be aware of any local regulations and laws that require you to do certain things, for example here in the UK motor vehicles including campers have to undergo a regular government inspection test called an "MOT" its tests for the minimum function of things like brakes and suspension.

But on top of that its wise to follow the manufacturers maintenance schedules for the vehicle and the items installed in it.

I have a feeling that you are confusing the term "caravan". Over on our side of the Atlantic what we call caravans is used to describe what is known as a travel trailer in the USA and that is what this forum is all about.
The Dodge Caravan was sold as the Chrysler Voyager in our part of the world.
