Parents finally taken up caravanning

Just wanted to share some news.

My parents after spending many a holiday at our van in different parts of the country and at the great age of 70, have gone out and bought a great condition second hand van.

My dad hasnt stopped smilling yet at the thought of collecting it at the weekend.

It a little two berth 1994 Swift Siluette with a full service history and sparkling inside and out.

Now for the fun bit, I had forgoten just how many basic items you need to start caravaning from scratch.
The van is sold entirely empty, so just for starters - battery, whale water pump, gas bottle, hook up lead, step, waste and water barrels and connection pipes, leveler ramps, little spirit level, towing mirrors, etc

Thats before you start putting anything in it. lol.

However, each purchase is bringing them one step closer to their first outing, and seeing the smiles, and excitement its bringing to them already makes it all so worth while.

This should usually be the other way around I know, but im so made up and proud of them for venturing out on their own, I wish them every success and hope they enjoy the freedom and joy that vanning can bring as much as we have.

Cheers
John

EXCUSE ME! What's this "great age of 70"? I'll have to send the ageist police round there!

Seriously, good luck to the "old folks". For them, life is just about to begin!
