Does anyone have parking sensors fitted to their vehicle? Was considering having them installed to my Sorento but don't know how this will work when a van is hitched up? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Hi Chris

We have parking sensors fitted to our Sorento, they only work when you select reverse gear so if your van is attached when reversing they will go off. (because of the close proximity of the van to the car)

Can be a little anoying but if your'e quick at reversing it's not for long.

The wife loves them, she says as long as she doesn't hear a continuos tone she knows that she can't reverse into anything, must say me too.

As most sensors work from the reversing light on the back light cluster it is possible to fit a switch somewhere handy so you can switch the sensors off when the van is hitched up. (dont forget to turn them back on when your have unhitched.

I've got sensors fitted to XC70 and Volvo fit a switch in the boot so that you can turn them off when towing. They are great, couldn't do without them now!

Hi Chris

We have parking sensors on our Mondeo Estate and I would not be without them, as for when towing they only go off when reversing and as I am always directing my husband when he is reversing with the Van they don't bother me.(Nor my husband)

Hi Guys

We have the sensors on a galaxy and they go off even with just the alko towbar on the back! But they can be switched off which means I'm worrying about where the tow bar is. What I was wondering is... if a small piece of fresnel prism (base oriented inwards) was stuck over the inner sensor whether this would make it blind to the towbar -wouldn't help much when the caravan was attached of course. Any thoughts on this?
