Trying to defrag but all I keep getting on the defrag page is
"Disk defragmenter has detected that Chkdsk is scheduled to run on the volume: (C)
Please run Chkdsk/F"
Whats all that about?
Any ideas?

Hi Eddie
The message means that there is an error on your computer hard drive and Chkdsk means Check Disc on the F drive of your computer. Try this:
Ensure that no programmes are running on your computer and click on the "Start" button.
Click on "Run."

Type "cmd" into the Run window and press the "OK" button.

Type "chkdsk x: /f" into the command prompt, where x: is the drive letter of the drive that is giving you an error when you try to defragment it.

Press the "Enter" key to run chkdsk on the drive. If you are told that you must restart the computer to run chkdsk, type "yes" and then press the "Enter" key. Restart the computer to run chkdsk, and then you can defragment the drive.

Hope this helps

I tried that but couldn't get past "Type "chkdsk x: /f" into the command prompt"
Couldnt see where to type it.
All I had was a black box with the heading......'C:/windows/system 32 / cmd.exe'
And in the box is.....'c:/documents and settings/pre-installed user>_'

Any idears as its all double dutch to me?
Thanks

It may be that something that you are not aware of is running in the background on your computer Eddie. If there's nothing obvious it could be some sort of malware in which case my honest advice is to take your computer to a computer repair shop to be checked and cleared if necessary.
It's pointless to stab in the dark and if you aren't sure it's no good taking a chance on causing damage by deleting stuff that you need.
