I'm looking for an easy to erect awning, I've seen this one in a couple of adverts, is it any good?

I see it stays on the van, is that a good or bad thing?

Or is there something similar that is beeter?

Hi Alan I have one of these PDQ porch awnings,Once you have it on your van they are very quick to errect however there are downsides,

They look a bit flimsy and the bag that the awning is in on the side of the van is not water proof eventually the rain gets in and the poles rust this leaves brown stains on the awning, They are Ok if your touring a few sites tho

Hi Alan

I have the Outdoor revolution Spacelite, which is similar in concept but quite a bit larger. Yes, it is still a bit flimsy compared to a full awning, but it does work well. I do not leave it on the side of the van though, as it only takes a few seconds to slide in and out. Only the roof fabric folds into the awning rail bag, the front panel zips out and packs away in a seperate bag with the pole. The rail bag does appear to be waterproof though. It takes me about 15 minutes to erect by myself, whilst kids watch and "help" by running off with the pegs.

It came with everything required, including storm straps, although I am not sure I would leave it up if the wind starts blowing hard though.

I am pleased with it, and would certainly buy another one.

Cheers

David

We have had a PDQ awning since last Sept.Goes up really quickly, but we did have to put some waterproof on it as it leaked in heavy rain, and I mean heavy rain.We always use the storm straps as the gusting wind seems to come in the middle of the night for us.But great as an extra room as we have 2 dogs that occupy it as well as the van.

I have got the new quest lounge porch awning, easy to put up and is made of material more like a full size awning rather than thin tent like material. Withstood the wind over easter really well and is a good bit larger. Looks like the spacelite which i looked at first but with different material hth.
