Hi all
We have put a deposit down on a used caravan with a large main dealer, they have asked that we pay the full balance at least two days before we pick up the van. They are carrying out a pdi check but if anything is found to be a concern how are we to know until the day of pick up, what’s your advice please
Thanks
Dave

Never hand over money until you go to collect it and have inspected it . If a dealer is not happy with this cancel walk away and ask for return of deposit, Also make sure any warranty is in writing not verbal. Money nowadays can be Pinged to the sellers account in seconds

I’ve used cards to pay the full amount on collection. These days money transfers without any undue delay. The only time there may be a glitch is Sundays if IT systems are being updated ( or hacked).

We brought a caravan from a dealer paid a deposit he gave us his bank details and we did a bank transfer for the balance on the same day he brought our caravan to our pitch at 2pm

Only pay the balance on day of collection and only after you have inspected the caravan. Rings alarm bells asking for money 2 days before collection? if they go bust in between now and collection, you lose everything!

Remember that under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 from date of delivery you have 30 days in which you can reject the caravan and get full refund. After the 30 days and within 6 months you need to give the dealer one chance at a repair before rejection.
