One thing I have noticed on the forum is that as the season gets ready for the off people are much nicer on the forum. During the winter people tend to get very up tight with each other. An inocent post sometimes gets a very hostile reponse which bring in the mods to calm things down.

But about now people are starting to get their vans ready for the new season and the excitment starts to show. Posts get more interesting; people are asking for places and best routes abroad etc. Just my observation but it is good to see the mood change.

I think moods change as the days start to draw out and my favourite day of the year is when the clocks go forward. Not long now, only another six weeks, 28th March ... wahhhhh!!!!!

This winter seems to have gone on for ages and I've had enough now :O(

Totally agree with your comments. The daylight hours are getting longer and as you say everyone is looking forward to getting the caravan out, well not everyone as some hardened caravanners have not put them away.

Cannot wait until Spring.

And I'm feeling very nice tonight - it was actually light here until almost 6.00 pm - bringing back memories of longer, warmer days, and today we've been and checked out our van after the longer winter wrapped up, and it looks lovely, smells even better (of holidays) and we can't wait to get away!!!!!

I might even be nice to people on here......???!!!????

I'm the same Val, I think bring on summer. Those light nights, butterflies flitting in the glades, swallows skimming the water to drink while bees and greenbottles buzz and hum while going about their business.

Then I get a reality check. I harken back to July 2009 when at Exmoor Valley Park and it rained every day that in the end we came home early :O(

Oh well, nowt I can do about it but the worrying thing is at my age the amount of summers I've got left hoping to get nice weather are running out ... heh! heh! heh!

Yea know exactly what you mean James. Can't say more, know what I mean!!??

I don't get the chance to wrap my van up for winter as we are living in it. Well unless you count wrapping the barrels in duvette coats errecting two awnings. Musn't moan though, even despite having to dig us into a pitch by clearing 7" of snow.

Be glad to get back to our seasonal summer pitch come March. It's an oasis in a black & white village and so quietbyou can hear a squirrel burp. Just the place to be cos not long after we move, I'm back into hospital for two operations on my shoulder and elbow that went wrong last year. Then hopefully back to work before Autumn.

I must be bonkers to start working outside as the winter looms again, but that's my self employment motivation kicking in, or just plain boredom. I realy don't know how people can exist on the sick, It's driving me up the wall trying to make

I just can't wait till March 13th this will be our very first trip out in our van, we have been cleaning her up and invested in an awning, and a 4x4 Pat loves the truck.

What I have noticed is 3 or 4 caravans on the motorway, I wonder were they are going, Pat says they are taking them home to get ready for the off.

Oh I do hope Pat and I like this new venture as we have both just retired and hope it will bring us closer together.

You get funny thing go through your head when you retire, well I can only speak for my self.

I hope I meet up with some of you on site some time.

There are certainly a few vans and motorhomes on the move. Stalwart souls, and I admire them although do not wish to join them until the warmer weather is truly here. However some of the vans you may have seen may have been Show models either going to, or from the Shows currently on. On the M74 last week there was a convoy of motorhomes heading south from Glasgow after the SECC.

I wish you well in your retirement and can wholeheartedly recommend it. However, I am not sure of your comment about 'bringing us closer together' and do not wish to know as that is personal. All I can say is that although work is no longer an important part of the day, you still need to keep some separate time, or you will fall out very quickly. In the confined space of a caravan that is even more important, even if it is only one of you going for a walk alone. If you have only spent a few hours in the evening and weekends together due to work, then 24 hours can be an issue if you are not careful.

Good luck, enjoy and try to relax. Things no longer have such importance especially time.
