We have recently had a few of our travelling friends move on to some land near us and although they have as yet been behaving it concerns us that they regularely travell around the estate touting for work and have twice knocked on our door asking if we want to sell our van. with this in mind and due to both me and my wife being out to work for many hours a day we have looked at fitting a tracking device to the van, it would appear that the phantom is the device of choice as this is the one all the retaillers near us have quoted for, we have been quoted just short of 500.00 pounds plus 249.00 for 5 years monitoring. my question is, has anyone had this system fitted and if so has it ever had to be used to recover a van, and by how much does it reduce a yearly premium on insurance, they quote up to 30% but has any one ever got this amount of reduction. since i only keep my vans for 5 years at the most i would need to save at least 150.00 pounds per year off my present premium of 450.00 pounds to make the phantom viable, i believe that the device is transferable from van to van but i would imagine the internall battery would be fairly well worn after five years so would not really be worth moving. any serious offers of advice would be most welcome. thank you JOHN.

I have no experience of the tracker system you are refering to but I do have with "Tracker" systems. They are a similar price to the one you are looking at ( well at least the one I have was) I can vouch for the operational efficiency, I once had my car stolen which also has tracker fitted and it was located within 1 hour of my reporting it ( in a lock up on a housing estate- the engine wsas still warm). They do work!!!!!!

i have looked into tracking systems for my new Provence, and the lack of initiative in the caravan insurance industry astounds me.At the moment Bakers will knock upto 25% off your premium, but the CC will only knock 10% off for the 'Tracker' only. They do not recognise Phantom as appropriate. Saying that Phantom has a 100% success rate, see their website http://www.caravan-alarms.co.uk/

Hope it helps
