Pink

Just use plain water, there is no need to use additive in the flush water, all it does is make a perfect breeding ground for algae and the resultant black bits coming out when flushing, and eventual pump failure

we use a disinfectant in our flush system. we like Zolflora it smells nice and u get a nice clean area as well. Cheap to I paid 1 pound for two bottles lasted us 2 months. Emptying the toilet once a day.

If by putting a slimey coating coating on the seals is counted as lubricating, then yes it does, but a spray with silicone lubricant occasionally is better.
It s exactly the slimey coating which acts like a petrie dish , a perfect breeding ground for bacteria and algae.

On my caravan, the toilet flush draws its water from the same on board tank as the water for the kitchen and washroom, so obviously I can't add Pink and consequently it cannot be necessary.

Quote "I thought it reduced water surface tension and aided bowl coverage as well as smelling nice"

A clever marketing ploy.
Adding a drop of washing up liquid will reduce surface tension in water, much as almost any additive will.

Smelling "nice" should not be an issue if normal good housekeeping is used .
An air freshener in the bathroom would be just as good, and probably cheaper.

Clever marketing ploys also say the washing up liquid damages seals and wiper blades etc
I do find when brush use is needed on the loo that the small amount of Pink froths up and aids the cleaning
I like using it to just to add another viewpoint but I don't add(pink not viewpoint!) it very often as it remains at diluted strength for a few fills
What its best to avoid is spillage on the van sides as a well known brand resisted all known cleaning agents as suggested by most people on a rally in Spain when allowed to overflow and be baked on in the hot sun!!
