thinking of going to rome/naples september have large twin axle van and wondered about size of pitches any body with experience in this part with information would be very much apresiated also any other tips ect thanks for any information.

They do tend to be very small except on a few sites. Never caravanned in either of the two places you mention though.I can supply you with info on a site in Tuscany and one at the top of Lake Garda that would fit the bill.
