plastic strip on roof

I have an Abbey Aventura 319. Having not had it for very long I have only just noticed (whilst looking through an upstairs window) that it has a plastic strip (shaped like an upside-down 'T')fitted on the roof above the door and about the same length. Does anyone have any ideas as to why it is there? Thanks
 
We have the Ace Jubilee Statesman (end bedroom) and that has a strip on the roof near the door which I have assumed to be a thoughtful rain deflector to prevent water running down your neck as you leave the caravan when there is a slope in that direction.It seems to work
