West Whitsun 2 years ago. It is a very large site but end May beg June is only one quarter full if that. The pitches are of medium size. We had a twin axle at the time and managed to get on a pitch with awning and was able to use another pitch for the car. Larger caravans had to use two pitches lengthways which did not have plants separating them. The site has direct access to a lovely spacious beach. The shop is well stocked. Washblocks were kept very clean - in fact the lady cleaner seemed to be in them 24/7. The site was fine until the weekend when the Spanish descended like locusts. Althugh the site was nearly empty you felt like a magnet as they just pitch up next door. They have the usual siesta then start cooking evening meal about 10pm. No wonder there are signs around the site warning silence by midnight. They did not have much effect. We would go again but perhaps arrive on a Sunday and leave Friday for next stop. We sailed into Santander then spent 3 weeks travelling up the coast of France and sailed home from Cherbourg.

We stayed there in May this year and thought it was great, very much a holiday camp atmosphere. Yes it was busy at weekends when the Spaniards arrived at their permanently pitched caravans with their families. They were all very pleasant and yes, they did eat late, and outdoors but so what? It was warm and they, like us were enjoying their hols.

The beach is wonderful, the town is nice for a wander round and a meal and you are close enough to get a ferry from a nearby village to Santander, a City we enjoyed visiting.

It was the end of a 3 month tour of Spain with the caravan and we spent about 10 days in Playa Joyel before getting the ferry from Bilbao. We will be definately fitting in another stay when we go to Spain this coming Winter.

Enjoy...
