Van insurance due for renewal early March so decided to get some quotes, the best deal I got was £28.00 more than last year.
Then my renewal came from my present insurer the C+CC and it was £10.00 less than last year. So well done to the C+CC.
Happy chappy.

Unless you have it insured 'new for old' it may be that the insurer reduces the sum insured each year and hence the lower premium.
It is always worth checking the market value of your van each year just before renewal, as this is all that you would get in the event of a total loss claim. If you don't do this you may be paying a higher premium than necessary.
It is sometimes difficult to establish market value for older and/or foreign vans - my own is a case in point. One way is to trawl the 'For Sale' sites for a similar van and copy any particulars that are found - the 'Save as...' facility on most browsers makes this easy. Then you could print these off in the event of having to negotiaste a claim.

As my 'van is a very old and unique classic van, I had this problem when I first tried to insure it. The problem was that whilst the manufacturer was listed, mine is a one-off model, created for its original owner, and not in any makers catalogue. Therefore no-one could give a market value for it.
I finally went to a specialist company called Caravan Rescue (0845 345 4525), who do an agreed value policy. Its not particularly cheap, but proved its worth when I bumped the van a year or two ago, causing £2,500 worth of damage. As the van is insured for £8,000 the claim was paid without any problems.
Just as an aside to that, when I took the van to Discover for an estimate, they dismissed it as "an old van" and that the insurers would laugh at my claim. When I told him how much it was covered for, he rapidly decided that perhaps they would like to quote for job.Guess who DIDN'T repair it?

I too found the C&CC had reduced my premium by a similar amount whilst leaving all other values the same. I always shop around but generally come back to the C&CC as cheapest is not always best when the worst happens. A few pounds here and there are not that significant given the overall cost of touring with a van.
