I am looking to buy a new E Class mercedes 320 estate, does anyone know if this would be suitable for towing a twin axle caravan?

Mark,

We tow with what is now a year old E-class 320CDI Avantgarde saloon, and looking in the owners handbook it appears that the estate kerb-weight will be at least 1885 kg with a braked maximum tow of 2100 kg. And a maximum nose-weight of 84 kg

The specifics of any particular caravan - that needs further clarification by you.

I should have also mentioned that the UK predilection for 4x4 vehicles is not mirrored in the rest of Europe, where (certainly in Germany and Holland) it's common to see a BMW 5-series or Mercedes E-class or Audi A6 Quattro doing the same job.
