This may well have been asked before so apologies.... Could do with a search facility just for forums to find the subject one is looking for.
We would like a porch awning, lightweight, quick to put up/take down and cheap! We have a Lunar Chateau 500 2005 model and the problem we have is that there is a window slap bang where the edge of a small porch would come. I know it's not advisable to have the side of an awning running down the middle of a window, but if we cover the window with film (minimise risk of scratch damage) and put a tensioned upright pole (intend buying one that can accomodate a pole at the back) as tight to the window as we can, could we asssume that the rear pad system would make a resonable attempt at minimising the gap between the side of the awning and the caravan wall?
Any comments, ideas or suggestions would be welcomed.

Ps has anyone succesfully fitted and used any kind of scissor side lift jack with the above caravan?

Hi Karen, the current porch awning we have is a Dorema, 2.4m in length and on our previous van was in the middle of a window, but we just put a clean T Towel against the window, Luckily we dont have the problem with our current van,
However if you are going to buy new then you will have a choice of sizes, ie; 2.4m, 3.6m, 3.9m and so on so you should be able to get one that doesnt fall by the window. We are saving up for the Kampa 390 which is more expensive than some but comes highly recommended, and one ffeature I like is the front legs are adjustable, take a look at there website.
Sorry cant help with the jack.

We measured our caravan very carefully for 'distances' between windows, and found an awning which just slotted in nicely between the door and the window on one side, and avoided the bathroom window on the other side. It does limit your choice of awnings, to one that is exactly right - but does make a much better fit and avoids any scuffing or scratching of the window.
You've only to read the posts on here about poorly fitting awnings (if only they could be found using the search) to realise that most people want as tight a fit as possible to the caravan, rather than a compromise where the pole has to cross a window.

We have a Ventura Marlin porch awsning and the one end fits right across a window! However as the side is padded and held in place with apole, no issues. I woudl not recommend putting cling film on a window as appearently ther is a chemical reaction between the cling film and the window plastic. Do a search for posts on cling film as this has been brought up before.
